Improper Disposal of Recycling Bins

Thursday, September 15, 2022

Date:   15 September 2022

To:       Residents of Sunglade Condominium

Dear Residents,

The Management has noticed that soiled food paper packaging and tissue papers aren’t the only things that have placed in recycling bins. We have discovered old clothes, toys, glass cookware and even ceramics being thrown indiscriminately into recycle bins too.  Especially, improper dumping of food waste will cause rat and pests infestation. Such incident not only creates unsightly, smelly, unhygienic and nuisance to other residents, it also causing unnecessarily work for the cleaners to clean them.

Many of us may think that just because an item is made out of recyclable material, it belongs in the recycling bin - but not everything can be recycled. Some plastics such as disposable cutlery and biodegradable bags should be trashed after use.

Recyclables, if contaminated, cannot be recycled. Paper packaging for example, if smeared with gravy of your leftover economy rice or cooked food, is trash. Plastic containers that pack delicious oily rendang is trash too unless it is cleaned before you place them into the recycling bin.

The rule of thumb seems to be this: If that piece of recyclable looks gross, don’t put it in. Recycling bins are not for trash.

We must take responsibility over what we recycle. If improperly recycled junk contaminates other items in the bin, the entire bin can get corrupted. Not only does this negate your (and everyone else’s) recycling efforts, it also produces more trash.

We can all do our part to create a healthier and better living environment within SunGlade.

Thank you.

Yours faithfully

Leashing And Muzzing Your Dog

Monday, September 5, 2022

Dear Pet Owners,

Please be reminded that pet owners are required by law to leash your dog in public places as well as common areas in condominium. Leashing the dog is part of being a responsible pet owner in order to better control the dog and avoid it from getting lost or from disturbing others unintentionally.

Your understanding and cooperation is appreciated.  Thank you.

Yours sincerely,

Public Consultation On Managing Pet and Community Cats In Singapore

Monday, September 5, 2022

Dear Residents / Pet Owners,

The Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS), a cluster of the National Parks Board (NParks) is seeking feedback from the public on our proposed strategies for the management of pet and community cats in Singapore to form a framework that aims to safeguard public health, and better protect the health and welfare of Singapore’s pet and community cats.

The proposed cat management framework comprises three strategies that we are seeking views on:
(i) Including pet cats in the licensing and microchipping scheme;
(ii) Expanding the Trap-Neuter-Rehome/Release-Manage (TNRM) Programme for free-roaming dogs to community cats; and
(iii) Promoting responsible community cat caregiving, adoption of cats, and responsible cat ownership through engagement and outreach.

Your feedback will help us refine the proposed cat management framework.

Click the link below to participate in our online survey, or scan the QR code. The consultation is open from 3 September to 2 November 2022.

Private Care Service for Elderly

Wednesday, August 31, 2022

Hi Residents,

Carer Pte Ltd would like to check if they can work with our condominium to offer a package for elderly residents in our condominium who require some care and support or want to participate in group activities in the condominium:

1) Home care for elderly who require assistance with their activities of daily living (e.g. bathing), routine nursing check-ups/care or simply having our carers engage the elderly in activities in their home. You can refer to the rates in our attached brochure.

They also have a shared elderly care service where the residents in the condo can share the service of local professional caregivers for a more affordable rate. The rate can be as low as $40/day depending on the number of residents who share the service (ideally at least 4 people).

2) Group recreational activities in the mornings or weekly outings held for elderly residents in the condo to keep them engaged. Where needed, Carer will make the transport arrangements. They have a variety of activities including heritage and food tours, trips to the supermarket/malls as well as art therapy, group exercises etc. which can also be conducted at our condo (a group of 6-8 elderly residents would be ideal).

If the Residents are interested, Carer can arrange a meeting to discuss further on how to publicise this to our residents. Look forward to hear from you 😊
